“Sparta’s first score came on a one-yard run by Kelvin Salter. Watts added the point-after kick. Watts added the point-after kick. Watts was the next Warrior to light up the scoreboard, pulling in a 12-yard pass. He also added another PAT.

“The Sparta Academy Warriors received a cold reception in Butler Friday night… from the weather and from the Patrician Academy Saints. Patrician rudely bound the Warriors from the state Class A playoffs by 30-0.
“Bobby Johnson closed out play with the Warriors by picking up 73 yards on 14 carries. Andy Skipper punched out 26 yards on seven carries and Ronny McKenzie had seven yards on three tries.
“Jerry Peacock had a tough night passing due to a tremendous rush and managed five completions on 15 throws.”

“These Conecuh Countians are two players Coach Eddie Dutton is expecting to help greatly as the Patrick Henry Junior College Patriots try to defend their Southern Division Championship this season. Gene Stallworth, 6-4 and 205 pounds, of Evergreen is one of only three players returning from last year’s club. Jerald Stallworth, 6-3 and 160 pounds, is one of the freshmen the Patriots will rely on when they open their season in December. He is from Repton.”

“The Conecuh County High Blue Devils are expecting big things in the future from these two young footballers. The Tiny Mites’ Mr. Football for 1976 is Jim Marino while Mike Marino was selected Mr. Football for the Pee Wees.”

“MAKING GOOD RECORD: OTTIS JOHNSON: TROY, Ala., Nov. 20 – Ottis Johnson of Evergreen will be completing his first year of football here Friday night when Troy State’s Red Wave completes its 1946 season.
“Johnson, weighing 205 pounds, never played football before coming to Troy, but turned in such a wonderful performance in initial practice sessions this year that Wave mentor A.E. Choate quickly placed the Conecuh County youth on the varsity squad.
“Johnson has made an impressive record on defensive play this year and should prove a valuable cog in next season’s machine.
“He is a freshman and holds down a tackle position on the Wave second team.”

“Aggies Defeat Flomaton: The Evergreen Aggies handed Flomaton a very decisive defeat Friday night in Brooks Stadium. Led by halfback Glenn McIntyre, the Aggies rolled up 32 points while Flomaton could score only one touchdown.
“Flomaton kicked off to the Aggie 15 and Ivey returned to the 45. Carpenter made 23 yards on a reverse and after a five-yard penalty was inflicted against the visitors, Carpenter made four and Ivey made two more for a first down. A pass to Benton Carpenter was incomplete and Flomaton was penalized five yards. Carpenter made seven yards for another first down. Ivey picked up two and Carpenter made three more. A pass from Logue to Ivey was good for a touchdown and Ivey made the yardage necessary for the extra point.
“Flomaton made six points after a long pass set the touchdown up. The extra point was good.
“The second Aggie touchdown came in the second period when McIntyre went over. The pass for the extra point was no good.
“Carpenter raced 50 yards to set up the third marker in the second quarter. Ivey made four and Carpenter three. McIntyre lost two and a pass was incomplete; Carpenter lost three and McIntyre scored on a reverse. Ivey’s attempted conversion was no good.
“The Aggies fourth score came when McIntyre ran for 30 yards and six more points. The extra point was good.
“The final touchdown came when McIntyre scored on an end run. Ivey’s kick was wide.
“This Thursday night, the Aggies close the season when they take on a strong Brundidge 11. The game will be played in Brooks Stadium and should be a thriller.”

“Conecuh Hi Wins Over Wallace 13-0: Castleberry, Nov. 17 – A 73-yard touchdown sprint by Roy Padgett, halfback, clinched victory for Conecuh County High School Friday in its game with Wallace.
“The local team won 13-0, the first touchdown having been counted in by Carter. Garrett and Matthews brought the ball to the two-yard line, from where the latter bucked it over for a touchdown.
“In the third quarter, Padgett, who is reputed to be the fastest man on the local team, caught a Wallace punt on his own 27-yard line and by side-stepping one man who blocked his path, ran the remaining distance to the goal line.
“The two teams meeting again at Wallace Friday.”
