The scheduled game between
Greenville and Evergreen Friday night has been postponed. Evergreen Coach
Wendell Hart said this morning that he has asked for the postponement, and
Greenville Coach Luke Whetstone had agreed to it.
The game has been
rescheduled, tentatively, for Wednesday night, Nov. 27, the night before
Thanksgiving. It will be played in Greenville.Cliff Harper
The Evergreen coach said he
asked for the postponement because of the flu epidemic which has hit Evergreen
High School. The Aggie squad has been crippled by the disease. Hart said he had
about 15 players out with flu.
Tuesday there were only 14
boys out for practice, and Hart and Assistant Coach Jeff Moorer decided to ask
Greenville to put off the game.
Hart said that even if his
players recovered from the illness by Friday night they would not be in
physical condition to play.
Earlier this week Cliff
Harper, executive secretary of the Alabama High School Athletic Association,
announced that the association had extended the deadline for season closing.
Harper said that high schools will have until the first week of December to
play games, an extension of a week.
