Witness photo of 'chemtrail' in Gardendale, Ala. |
It’s the second Thursday of the month, so this week I’m
giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month,
courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). A search for UFO reports in Alabama
between April 1 and April 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in only
one report from within our state during that time.
According to that report, the incident took place on Mon.,
April 17, around 4:30 p.m. in Gardendale, which is a northern suburb of Birmingham,
in Jefferson County. The witness in this case said that he’s been researching
and documenting “chemtrails” for over 10 years and on April 17 he noticed a
“very strange, silent, misty rectangle” in the sky when he stepped out of his
house to check his mail.
According to some UFO researchers (and conspiracy
theorists), “chemtrails” are long-lasting condensation trails that are left
behind in the sky by high-flying aircraft that supposedly contain chemical and
biological agents that are deliberately sprayed for purposes that aren’t made
known to the public. Believers in this fringe theory argue that normal
contrails from planes usually disappear quickly, but contrails that don’t must
contain additional substances that have been added for undisclosed reasons. Believers
in the conspiracy theory say that the purpose of these chemicals may be for
reasons like weather modification, mind control, solar radiation management and
population control.
The witness in the Gardendale case said that he’d never seen
a chemtrail like the one on April 17. “It was very broad, perhaps 300 feet
across and had straight, sharp rectangular edges,” he said. “The length of it
extended onwards perhaps a thousand feet and the back edge was hidden by the
trees.”
The witness also noted that the chemtrail was motionless and
silent. He also said that he was proud to admit that he had the presence of
mind to grab a 16-megapixel Nikon Coolpix camera with a wide-angle/zoom lens to
take a few photographs. Eventually, he said, the object faded like mist after
about 20 minutes.
The witness did post two of his photos online along with his
report, and I reviewed both of them closely. Both showed a sizeable, elongated
cloud that did have straight edges and sharp corners and points that looked somewhat
unusual. I can’t say that I would have given the cloud a second look, but then
again, I can see how the cloud caught the eye of the person that filed the
report.
One thing that jumped out at me about both photos is that if
you take a close look at each, you can clearly see an unusual white, circular
object near where the cloud becomes obscured by the tree line. This small,
round object was separate from the cloud itself and immediately caught my eye.
It may have just been a small, circular cloud, but it is eye-catching.
Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out
there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who have
witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would
be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report
anonymously.
