It’s the second Thursday of the month, so this week I’m
giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month,
courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network. A search for UFO reports in Alabama between
May 1 and May 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in three reports
from within our state during that time, including one report from nearby
Escambia County.
The first reported incident took place over the course of
several days leading up to the early morning hours of Fri., May 17, in Atmore.
The witness in this case said that when he can’t sleep, he’ll often step
outside and look at the stars. He reported seeing “strange lights” over the
course of several nights prior to making his report.
During these incidents, he reporting seeing, for the most
part, just one light, “moving extremely fast, zig-zagging or shooting straight
up or down or sideways.” However, he also reported seeing two lights at times
that appeared to be in a vertical position, one on top of the other, doing the
same type of movements. These lights have been appearing almost every night,
during the early morning hours, for some time, the witness said.
He noted that he was making the report to see if anyone else
in the Atmore area had also seen the strange lights.
The next two reports were filed by witnesses in Sumiton, a
small city that sits on the Walker-Jefferson County line, not far from
Birmingham. In the first incident, a witness reported seeing a UFO fly over his
home around 11:11 p.m. on May 17.
“I saw a bright light moving, no sound, and it flew over my
home,” the witness reported. “I and a friend watched it. I ran in and got my
phone and started recording.”
The witness noted that the UFO was white and pulsated, but
emitted no sound. For the most part, the object was visible just above the
treetops near the home.
Oddly, the next incident took place on the following day,
really just a few hours later, on Sat., May 18, around 2:55 a.m., also in
Sumiton. The witness in this case said he was outside and attempted to take a
picture of the moon. It was then that the witness noticed a UFO about 100 feet
away in the sky. The witness said the UFO was circular in shape.
The two reports coming out of Sumiton did not provide a lot
of detail, so one is left to wonder if the second UFO was also sitting silently
in the sky, emitting no sound. The second witness indicated that the object was
stationary, which makes me wonder if it might have been some sort of optical
illusion caused by the full moon. Without additional details, it’s hard to say
for sure, but I thought it was interesting that we had two reports from the
same town just a few hours apart.
Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out
there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has
witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people
would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your
report anonymously.
2018 we were driving through Alabama going to Ooltewah 3:00a.m on the way we saw a light shoot out of the woods and into the sky so bright and so fast we didn’t know if it landed or left but it was so bright it illuminated the inside of our truck.
ReplyDeleteI was outside around 8pm tonite, August 20? Near Atmore, AL and in the sky o saw a bright triangular object that wasn't moving. My sister barrely looked at it and said it was a helicopter. Suddenly it was gone and then reappeared seconds later. The next time I saw it it was on the other side of sky moving fast and leaving orange sparks behind it as it went.
