We understand that an iron fence for the Camden Cemetery will cost $460 in which must be added the cost of its erection, which will be considerable. Some of the ladies of the town have undertaken to raise this amount, but have met with little success, the cash subscriptions to date amounting to less than $175. Ever since Camden has had a cemetery, the comment has been heard regularly “the fence is out of repair, the cemetery is being used as a public pasture,” and this will continue to be true as long as it remains enclosed with a plank fence.”

The rainfall of last Wednesday and Thursday is reported at 6-1/2 inches. The river has risen very rapidly and is now way out of its banks, but so far, there has been no loss of bridges reported.
