Cussler's 'The Thief' debuts at No. 1 this week on best-sellers list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly review of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there are three new books at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"The Thief" by Clive Cussler & Justin Scott replaced "Lone Wolf" by Jodi Picoult as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks replaced "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" by Stieg Larsson as the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L. James replaced "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" by Stieg Larsson as the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list.

"American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History" by Chris Kyle, Jim DeFelice and Scott McEwen remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.

There are four books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "The Thief" by Clive Cussler & Justin Scott (1), "A Rising Thunder" by David Weber (3), "Fair Game" by Patricia Briggs (Ace), "Chasing Midnight" by Randy Wayne White (8) and "The Expats" by Chris Pavone (13).

There are five books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Quiet" by Susan Cain (8), "Seeing the Big Picture" by Kevin Cope (9), "Doing More with Less" by Bruce Piasecki (12), "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman (14) and "Revelations" by Elaine Pagels (15).

There are five books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They include "Live Wire" by Harlan Coben (6), "New York to Dallas" by J.D. Robb (8), "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson (11), "Only Time Will Tell" by Jeffrey Archer (14) and "Due or Die" by Jenn McKinlay (15).

There are three books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Fifty Shades of Grey" by E.L. James (1), "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell (14) and "The Grand Design" by Stephen Hawking & Leonard Mlodinow (15).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
