Jim Butcher's new 'Dresden Files' book cracks best-sellers list

Today is Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there are two new books at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"The Black Box" by Michael Connelly replaced "Notorious Nineteen: A Stephanie Plum Novel" by Janet Evanovich as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander replaced "The Perfect Hope" by Nora Roberts as the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list.

“Kill Alex Cross" by James Patterson remained the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list for the second straight week.

"Killing Kennedy" by Bill O'Reilly remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the third week in a row.

There are two books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "The Black Box" by Michael Connelly (1) and "Cold Days" by Jim Butcher (3).

There are four books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "The Virgin Diet" by J.J. Virgin (6), "The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook" by Deb Perelman (9), "Antifragile" by Nassim Nicholas (14) and "Tap Dancing to Work" by Carol Loomis (15).

There are eight books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Locked On" by Janet Evanovich (3), "The First Prophet" by Kay Hooper (5), "Unspoken" by Lisa Jackson (7), "Running Wild: The Men from Battle Ridge" by Linda Howard (8), "Fatal Friends, Deadly Neighbor" by Ann Rule (10), "Unnatural Acts" by Stuart Woods (11), "The Sins of the Father" by Jeffrey Archer (13) and "Shadow's Claim" by Kresley Cole (14).

There are three books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week "The Paris Wife" by Paula McLain (9), "How to Tell If Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You" by The Oatmeal/Matthew Inman (12) and "The Chew" by Peter Kaminsky (15).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
