“Goings On Of a Deer Hunt (Opp News): It is not difficult to ‘go to the dogs’ if your associates are a bunch of deer hunters. Several years ago if a person had predicted that we would, in time, invest our good dough in a squall-mouth, flop-eared hound dog, we would have thought him tetched in the head, but that is exactly what happened. After coming to Opp, we followed the trend of the other loafers and started hanging out around Henry Josey’s place with such characters as Henry, Geo. Armistead, Joe Benton, Horace Danley, Dr. J.C. Hurst and others, all ‘retired’ and deer hunters. Tall and convincing were their tales and finally we fell victim.
“The season opened last week and early the first morning, at the crack of day, we found us hunters in the woods to discover we were not alone by some 200 other hunters.”
