Four UFO incidents reported in Alabama during month of May

It’s the second week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between May 1 and May 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in four reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on Sun., May 5, at 4:34 a.m. in Montgomery. The witness reported that he turned onto Wares Ferry Road and was driving over an overpass on Interstate Highway 65 when he saw an unusual object about 75 degrees above the horizon. The witness said that the object appeared to be about two miles away and was basketball-sized and bright. The object traveled northeast, increased in speed and became smaller until the witness lost sight of it when it was an estimated 15 miles away. The witness estimated that the object was traveling over 4,000 miles per hour.

The second incident occurred on Tues., May 21, at 11:37 p.m. in Haleyville, which is in Winston County in Northwest Alabama. The witness in that case was standing on his front doorstep, smoking a cigarette, when he saw an object with bright red and white lights moving through the sky towards a neighbor’s house. The object hovered silently over the trees and stopped near the neighbor’s house, which was about 100 yards away from the witness. A few seconds later, a beam of white light, almost like a spotlight, shot out of the object. Fifteen or 20 seconds later, the light turned off. The object then reversed slowly and eventually disappeared.

The third incident occurred on Fri., May 24, at 9 p.m. in Rogersville, which is in Lauderdale County, also in Northwest Alabama near the Alabama-Tennessee line. The witness and his wife were driving west on Cairo Hollow Road when they saw a very bright light in the sky. A few seconds later, another object appeared and was followed by eight more similar objects. They were “extremely bright and a vivid orange,” brighter than the full moon, he said. The man stopped the car, got out and described being scared. The objects traveled south and eventually disappeared. All total, the couple saw the objects for about two minutes.

The fourth incident occurred on Mon., May 27, at 8:20 p.m. in Birmingham. The witness in that case said he was rolling his trash can out to the street around 8:20 p.m. when he saw what he at first thought was an unusually bright star or planet. As he watched, the object increased in brightness and size, “maybe to the size of a penny held with an outstretched hand,” he said. The object then began to move and dim. It rose in the sky and “quickly got smaller and vanished completely,” he said.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
