From “The Colyum” by Bob Bozeman: Well, I finally made contact with a quail hunter who can deliver. Ed Pate of Castleberry stopped by the office Saturday and told me he was going to bring me a mess of quail and soon. Friend Ed came in early Monday with a good mess, seven, and he had even dressed and cut them.
I have a confession to make… I don’t eat quail, in fact, don’t care much for any kind of game, but Maurice and my daughter, Roberta, just “love” quail. They enjoyed Ed’s at supper Tuesday night and it gave me pleasure just watching them enjoy the birds.
Ed left a note with the quail: “Bob, hope you enjoy these quail… and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours. P.S. I still think Roland has good intentions.”
Thanks, Ed, and best wishes to you and yours, too.
