EVERGREEN HIGH SCHOOL: Football’s well over now, and everybody is shooting for that basketball goal. Some of the boys have been out for practice this week. We’re looking forward to a good season.

PEEPS AT SSAS: The boys opened their basketball season for 1928-29 last Friday afternoon when they played McKenzie at McKenzie, winning with a score of 24-18. This is an excellent beginning and we hope the boys will continue to bring home winning scores.

AGGIE GIRLS WIN 6TH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY: The Aggie girls continued their winning streak last Friday by swamping the McKenzie basketball sextet 48-12. It was Evergreen’s sixth consecutive victory and in the six games they have scored 223 points to 110.
In the game Friday, the entire team played winning ball. Lyda Mae Heffner and Hattie Snowden as guards played their best game of the season. Penny Mae Purnell also looked good in her first game and at the guard position. The forwards continued to score points in rapid succession and the centers played a strong passing game.
The team will continue its campaign Friday at 3 p.m. when they meet the strong Flomaton team.

MANY HUNTERS ATTEND ALGER-SULLIVAN HUNT: A large number of big game hunters assembled at timber reservation of the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Co., south of Repton, last Thursday for one of the biggest deer hunts of the season. There were antler seekers from various sections of Alabama and Florida who traveled many miles to take part in the chase. It is said that over a dozen deer were killed. Among others who accomplished this feat were: C.L. Barlow, Hobson Farris, Ralph Brown and Hub Wright.
It was also stated that this hunt was the last to be held on this reservation for a number of years in order that the game might increase.

Aggie Girls Meet Flomaton Friday: S.S.A.S. boasts of the strongest girls basketball team in the history of the school. Spectators will receive a treat Fri., Dec. 14, when the Aggie team clashes with Flomaton’s strongest.
In Heffner, Snowden and Purnell the team claims three excellent hard playing guards; the centers consist of Kelly and Pierce who are very successful in jumping for the ball. Elvie Ivey is a very efficient running center being assisted by Simmons. With Bailey and Andrews as forwards and Stacey and Cox assisting the team is strong on scoring.
How they have played this season: Repton 20, Evergreen 18; Repton 13, Evergreen 13; Lyeffion 23, Evergreen 19; Lyeffion (no score listed), Evergreen 21; Castleberry 13, Evergreen 24; Castleberry 28, Evergreen 46; Ft. Deposit 29, Evergreen 50; Ft. Deposit 12, Evergreen 34; McKenzie 12, Evergreen 48.
