Evergreen weather observer Harry Ellis reported no rain between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6. He reported a high of 63 degrees on Feb. 3 and lows of 24 on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6. Total rainfall for the month of January 2000 was 4.42 inches.

Dantz named Executive VP at the Bank of Evergreen: The Bank of Evergreen is pleased to announce that Timothy P. Dantz has joined their staff as Executive Vice President. Tim is a 1989 graduate of the University of Virginia and brings 10 years of lending experience to the bank. He and his wife, Katherine, will be moving to their home on Main Street in March. Evergreen weather observer Earl Windham reported 1.7 inches of rain on Feb. 4 and 0.2 inches on Feb. 9. He reported a high of 62 on Feb. 3 and a low of 22 on Feb. 8.

This is the Conecuh County Sheriff’s Department as organized under new Sheriff Edwin L. Booker. Seated by the Sheriff is Chief Deputy Sheriff Don L. McInnis, who is married and has two children and lives at Fairview. A graduate of Repton High School, McInnis served 18 months in the military service and 18 months with the Monroeville Police Department. He is a qualified Photo Electric Intoximeter operator and graduated from the Alabama Police Academy at Faulkner State Junior College after completing 240 hours of instruction. He is also a TC-500 NCIC computer operator. Standing are Deputy David Stonestreet of Castleberry. A graduate of Evergreen High School, he is married and a member of the National Guard. Adam Jerome Boykin, Bruner Avenue, Evergreen, served in the Army two years including combat service in Vietnam. A graduate of Conecuh County Training School, he is married and has one child. Leroy Ferrell lives in the Annex community. He has 3-1/2 years experience with the police departments in Georgiana and McKenzie.

This Cessna 206 photo aircraft is being used by Accu Air Surveys of Seymour, Indiana to photograph this county for re-evaluation purposes. Rick Brown of LaFayette, La. Is a charter pilot flying out of Middleton Field Airport for the survey company. Don Pridgen is chief pilot for the company. Jim Fields is manager of Evergreen Aviation, Inc., operators of services at Middleton. Brown got quite a surprise a few days ago when a Navy training plane landed at Middleton and he found that the Marine pilot was Don Wagner, an old school chum of his.

FEB. 9, 1950

Accident Injuries Prove Fatal To Oris Jones: Oris Jones, native and former resident of this city, died at a Brewton hospital late Wednesday afternoon as result of injuries he sustained in an accident in Evergreen about one week ago. Mr. Jones was injured when the motorcycle he was riding ran into an auto at the intersection of Cary and Park Street Wed., Feb. 1. He received severe injuries to the head and in the pelvic region.
Mr. Jones was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Jones of this city. He received his education here and for a number of years was associated with his father in the barber business here. For a number of years, he has owned and operated one of the leading barbershops in Brewton.

Boy Scouts Will Hold Father And Son Banquet: The Evergreen Boy Scouts, Troop 40, will close the Scout Anniversary Week, celebrating the 40th year of scouting in America, with a Father and Son Banquet Monday night, Feb. 13. The banquet will begin at 6:30 o’clock and is to be held in the new City School Lunchroom.
A good program has been planned and Cliff Harper is brining a guest speaker from Montgomery. A Scout committee has planned an excellent meal.
The Evergreen Rotary Club, sponsor of the local Troop 40, will attend the banquet in a body in lieu of the regular meeting which is usually held at noon Wednesday.
All Rotarians, Junior and Senior Scouts of Troop 40 and dads of the boys are urged to meet in the City School Auditorium around 6:20 Monday night for this fine occasion.
