The Savage home, as it has been known for years, was completely removed last week, heading for its final resting place in Sugargum Bottom. According to the records found at the Evergreen-Conecuh County Public Library the first deed was sold by Isaac and Julia Griffith to John H. and George R. Farnham and Co. on July 1, 1873 before the house was built. On March 18, 1882, the same lot was sold by the Farnhams to T.J. Ansley. He kept the property until 1890, at that time the deed shows that he sold the lot and house to C.B. Savage on Dec. 17, 1890, indicating that the house was built between the years of 1882 and 1890. In 1928-1929, Mrs. Patrick Burt operated the home as a high-class, well-to-do boarding house for drummers (traveling salesmen) and state workers.
