Cussler's 'Cresent Dawn' appears on hardcover best-seller list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly review of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, we’ve got three new books at the top of the four major best-seller lists this week.

“Cross Fire” by James Patterson replaced “Hell’s Corner” by David Baldacci as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-seller list.

“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson replaced “The Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown as the top book on the mass market paperback best-seller list.

“The Book of Awakening” by Mark Nepo replaced “Happy Ever After” by Nora Roberts as the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-seller list.
“Decision Points” by George W. Bush retained the top spot on the hardcover nonfiction best-seller list.

There are five books on this week’s hardcover fiction best seller list that weren’t on that list last week. Those books (and their positions on this week’s list) include "Cross Fire" by James Patterson (1), "Crescent Dawn" by Clive Cussler and Dirk Cussler (6), "The Emperor's Tomb" by Steve Berry (9), "The Athena Project" by Brad Thor (10) and "An Object of Beauty" by Steve Martin (15).

There are eight books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best seller list that weren’t on that list last week. Those books are "America by Heart" by Sarah Palin (2), "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption" by Laura Hillenbrand (4), "Decoded" by Jay-Z (6), "Earth (The Book)" by Jon Stewart (8), "Colonel Roosevelt" by Edmund Morris (10), "Kardashian Konfidential" by Kourtney, Kim, Khloe Kardashian (11), "My Passion for Design" by Barbra Streisand (13) and "All the Devils Are Here" by Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera (14).

There are five books on this week’s mass market paperbacks list that weren’t on the list last week. Those books are "Breathless" by Dean Koontz (4), "The Sooner the Better" by Debbie Macomber (11), "Return to Rose Cottage" by Sherryl Woods (12), "O'Hurley's Return" by Nora Roberts (14) and "McKettrick's Choice" by Linda Lael Miller (15).

There are two books on this week’s trade paperbacks list that weren’t on that list last week. Those books are "The Book of Awakening" by Mark Nepo (1) and "Just Kids" by Patti Smith (14).

Below you’ll find all four of this week’s best-seller lists. As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
