My movie picks this week are 'True Grit' and 'Devil'

It’s Wednesday, so today I give you my weekly list of movies that will open in theatres this week as well as my list of movies that will be released this week on DVD.

I hope this will serve as a useful guide as to what’s going on this week if you happen to be near a movie theatre or if you’re looking for something to drop into your NetFlix queue.

Movies that are scheduled to hit theatres this week include:

- True Grit (Western, PG-13): Directed by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen and starring Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, Hailee Steinfeld and Barry Pepper. (Opens Dec. 22)

New DVD releases for the week of Dec. 21 include:

- Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (Drama, PG-13): Directed by Oliver Stone and starring Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon and Carey Mulligan.

- Salt (Crime and Mystery, PG-13): Starring Angelina Jolie, Live Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Andre Braugher.

- Easy A (Comedy, PG-13): Directed by Will Gluck and starring Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Dan Byrd and Thomas Hayden Church.

- Step Up 3D (Drama, Romance, PG-13): Directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Adam G. Sevani, Rick Malambri, Sharni Vinson, Alyson Stoner and Keith Stallworth.

- Heartbreaker (Comedy, Not Rated): Directed by Pascal Chaumell and starring Romain Duris, Vanessa Paradis, Julie Ferrier, Francois Damiens and Helena Noguerra.

If I could only watch one movie at the theatre this week, it would be “True Grit,” and if I had to pick just one DVD to rent this week, it would be “Devil.”

In the end, let me know if you get a chance to watch any of the new movies in theatres this week or if you’ve already seen any of the movies that have just been released on DVD. What did you think about them? Which would you recommend? Let us know in the comments section below.
