“Aggie Girls Meet Flomaton Friday: S.S.A.S. boasts of the strongest girls basketball team in the history of the school. Spectators will receive a treat Fri., Dec. 14, when the Aggie team clashes with Flomaton’s strongest.

“In (Lyda Mae) Heffner, (Hattie) Snowden and (Penny Mae) Purnell, the team claims three excellent hard playing guards; the centers consist of Kelly and Pierce, who are very successful in jumping for the ball. Elvie Ivey is a very efficient running center being assisted by Simmons. With Bailey and Andrews as forward and Stacey and Cox assisting, the team is strong on scoring.”

“Many Hunters Attended Alger-Sullivan Hunt: A large number of big game hunters assembled at timber reservation of the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Co., south of Repton, last Thursday for one of the biggest deer hunts of the season. There were other antler seekers from various sections of Alabama and Florida, who traveled many miles to take part in the chase. It is said that over a dozen deer were killed. Among others who accomplished this feat were: C.L. Barlow, Hobson Farris, Ralph Brown and Hub Wright.

“It was also stated that this hunt was the last to be held on this reservation for a number of years in order that the game might increase.”
