Four UFO reports filed in Alabama during the month of June

It’s the third week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between June 1 and June 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in four reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on Mon., June 3, at 9:20 p.m. in Florence. The witness in this case said he saw “orbs” of light traveling 200 to 300 feet off the ground, below the level of the clouds. These lights were “very, very bright” and appeared to “weave, wobble, hover and curve.” The lights moved “extremely slow,” an estimated five miles per hour, the witness said. The skies were partly cloudy, and it took about four minutes for the orbs to fly over the witness’ yard. As he watched, the orbs would go from “medium bright” to “extremely bright” all of a sudden before dimming and disappearing.

The second incident occurred 13 minutes later in Gadsden. The witness in this case was watching television in his bedroom when his dog began to bark outside. The man went to the kitchen window to investigate and saw “something bright in the sky.” He grabbed his binoculars, ran outside and watched the light for about five minutes. The light moved slowly and “had a wobble.” He watched as it moved silently to the northeast, and it remained “bright white” but seemed to have an “aura around it.” Eventually, he lost sight of it when it disappeared behind the treeline.

The third incident occurred the following day on Tues., June 4, around 9:01 p.m. in Mobile. The witness reported that he and his wife both saw a “light in the sky at the same time.” Despite the heavy light pollution of Mobile, they saw what they at first thought was a satellite. However, the light seemed to move faster than a typical satellite. They continued to watch the light move across the sky and “wobble, making several U-shaped deviations” before traveling again in a straight line. The light wasn’t blinking, so the couple ruled out the possibility that the object was an airplane. In all, it was visible for less than a minute, the witness said.

The fourth incident occurred on Fri., June 7, at 9:15 p.m. in Gulf Shores. The witness in this case was a 61-year-old man who’d just stepped outside to lock his van. He happened to look up and saw an object “moving very fast” from the southeast. The object moved silently and had a “red glow all over with a fire of bright white coming from the center of the object.” It was shaped like a “square building, slanted in at the roof.” The man grabbed some binoculars from his van and was able to focus on the object for about eight seconds. Suddenly, it just vanished, silently, leaving nothing behind but a “faint cloud of smoke.”

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
