International Space Station |
It’s the second Thursday of the month, so this week I’m
giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month,
courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network. A search for UFO reports in Alabama between
Sept. 1 and Sept. 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in three
reports from within our state during that time.
The first incident took place on Sun., Sept. 1, and began
around 4:30 p.m. in Pelham, which is in Shelby County, near Birmingham. The
53-year-old witness in this case was outside of his workplace when he noticed a
“stationary star-like object” at a very high altitude nearly directly overhead.
The day was bright and sunny, and the witness presumed that it was Venus or
some other natural object.
Later that night, around 9:30 p.m., the witness was on his
back patio at home when he saw the same object at a very high altitude. He
watched as this object moved northwest, and he considered that it might be a
satellite of some kind. Suddenly and without warning, the object gave off a
quick, bright flash of white light, but continued moving in the same direction.
The object eventually grew very faint, and then became
stationary. As the witness watched for a little while, the object began moving
again, this time due north. Eventually, it moved out of sight behind his house,
and the witnessed wondered then if it might be some type of drone. He was sure
that it was not some type of everyday aircraft.
The second incident took place on Sun., Sept. 8, at 7:01
p.m. in Faunsdale, which is in Marengo County, not far from Greensboro. The
witness in this case was outside playing with his daughters when he saw an unidentified
object flying across the sky.
“There was no noise or jet stream coming from the object
whatsoever,” the witness said. “We watched it, and I pointed it out to them,
and they both acknowledged there was something there.”
The witness noted that he was a former military paratrooper
and that he had lived near multiple airports and airbases his entire life, so
he is very familiar with conventional aircraft.
The third incident took place on Fri., Sept. 13, at 11:40
p.m. in Fort Payne, which is in DeKalb County in the northeast corner of the
state. The witness in this case said he received an alert on his phone saying
that the International Space Station (ISS) was about to become visible low on
the horizon to the west. While looking for the ISS, the witness noticed an
unusual, orange orb that was traveling east to west. Despite his best efforts,
the witness could not figure out what this orb could have been.
Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out
there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has
witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people
would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your
report anonymously.
