The Evergreen Golf Club’s
Sixth Annual Invitational Tournament will be held on the Evergreen course, four
miles north on Highway 31, next Thurs., April 12.
The Evergreen tournament is
considered one of the best one-day meets held each year in south Alabama. A
unique feature is that the tournament has never been won by a local golfer. The
local club will enter several strong challengers headed by Bill McGehee this
year, and 1951 might be the year for the championship trophy to stay at home.
Between 20 and 30 local
golfers are expected to enter the event. Visiting golfers are expected from
Brewton, Andalusia, Greenville, Montgomery, Pensacola, Monroeville and many
other places over this state and Florida. Entry fee in the tournament is $5
including lunch and refreshments.
From Hi-Lites of E.H.S.’s
