Results from 5A Sectional track meet held in Troy: The Hillcrest boys track team finished in sixth place and the Hillcrest girls also finished in sixth place at the 5A sectional track meet held April 28 in Troy.
Boys team results were as follows: Smith’s Station, first place, 186 points; Eufaula, second place, 85 points; Charles Henderson, third place, 75 points; Greenville, fourth place, 73 points; Andalusia, fifth place, 53 points; Hillcrest, sixth place, nine points; and Wetumpka, seventh place, seven points.
Girls team results were as follows: Smith’s Station, first place, 171 points; Eufaula, second place, 46 points; Greenville, third place, 43 points; Charles Henderson, fourth place, 38 points; Wetumpka, fifth place, four points; and Hillcrest, sixth place, one point.
Individual results were as follows: 400-meter dash, Lasharon Johnson, sixth place; discus, Blake Anderson, sixth place; shot put, Steven Snell, fourth place; 3200-meter relay, Chad Smith, Charles Thomas, Jonathan McEwen and Equardo Thomas, fourth place.
State qualifiers – Steve Snell, shot put; Chad Smith, 3200-m relay; Charles Thomas, 3200-m relay; Jonathan McEwen, 3200-m relay; and Equardo Thomas, 3200-m relay.

MAY 3, 1979

Vols vanquish Warriors 11-1: The Monroe Academy Vols cruised to an easy 11-1 win over the Sparta Academy Warriors behind two-hit pitching Monday afternoon at the Murphy Club field. Sparta stayed in the game until the top of the sixth inning, trailing only 4-1 at that time, when Monroe exploded for six runs.
Tommy Hutcheson and Ronny McKenzie collected one hit each to account for Sparta’s attack. Mike Mixon scored the only run for the Warriors after getting on base on an error in the third inning. Jeff Johnson was the losing pitcher.
Sports Information Director Byron Warren Jr. states that through the 11 games played these three players are leading in batting statistics for the Warriors: Terry Peacock, batting .363 with eight RBI; Tommy Hutcheson, batting .357 with six RBI; and Ronny McKenzie, batting .357 with 11 RBI.

BOY SCOUT NEWS: For a regular meeting this week, our troop met Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 at the City School and chose sides for a baseball game – at 5:30, we had our business meeting and patrol meetings.

We are requested to give notice that a meeting of the members of the Evergreen Base Ball Club will be held at the Court House tomorrow night, Friday, at eight o’clock. A full attendance is desired.

Col. P.D. Bowles has been selected by the members of the Evergreen Base Ball Club as their President. A good selection.
