Dusty Wilson named All-State Performer: T.R. Miller Senior Dusty Wilson has been named by the ASWA as an All-State Performer for his play on the Tigers’ offensive line during the 2001 season. Wilson also played well for the Tigers on defense, recording 21 solo tackles and 41 assisted tackles during the season. He was also named to the All-Area Team by The Mobile Register.
T.R. Miller Head Coach Jamie Riggs said, “Wilson is a hard-working player who will be hard to replace on next year’s squad. He was one of the best centers we’ve ever had here. He has always played above his size and worked very hard.”

S.S.A.S. ATHLETIC FUND REPORT: Receipts, Expenditures And Indebtedness Of The S.S.A.S. Athletic Association For The Year 1926-27 To Date: There seems to be a question in some minds as to the use of funds raised by the school to maintain the Athletic Dept. during the current year. Therefore, I am publishing the following statement showing receipts, disbursements and outstanding indebtedness.
I might say in passing that this department gets no support from the state other than the services of one of the teachers as a coach. Neither is it supported wholly or in part by the town but is dependent entirely on gate receipts and student activities for support.
Football is the most expensive sport; it requiring about $23 to equip each player. Baseball second with about $12 and basketball about $3. Of course, all this equipment is not purchased annually but enough is necessary to run the cost near the $500 mark.
I wish to state that I have a careful record of all receipts and expenditures, itemized account of each, and anyone desiring to check same will please call at the principal’s office. – W.B. Sexton.
(Athletic department expenses included $28.41 for telephone and telegraph usage, $8.26 for books for the library, $236 paid to visiting teams, $164.80 for transportation and expenses of team on trips, and $53.20 for meals for visiting teams. Revenue receipts included $569.09 from football and basketball gate receipts and receipts from trips to other schools, $100 from the “Peptometer,” $187.11 from plays by students, $11.40 from boys for their shoes and $29.45 from donations for meals, etc.)
