Latest Terry Brooks Shannara book makes best-sellers list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly review of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, we’ve got two new books at the top of the four major best-seller lists this week.

"Flash and Bones: A Novel" by Kathy Reichs replaced "The Omen Machine" by Terry Goodkind as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"Wicked Appetite" by Janet Evanovich replaced "The Confession: A Novel" by John Grisham as the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"A Stolen Life" by Jaycee Dugard kept its No. 1 spot on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.

"The Help" by Kathryn Stockett retained the top spot on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list.

There are four books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "Flash and Bones: A Novel" by Kathy Reichs (1), "The Measure of Magic: Legends of Shannara" by Terry Brooks (3), "The Paris Wife" by Paula McLain (11) and "One Summer" by David Baldacci (12).

There are three books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfullness" by Alexandra Fuller (11), "Rafa" by Rafael Nadal and john Carlin (12), "The Eighty-Dollar Champion: Snowman, the Horse That Inspired a Nation" by Elizabeth Letts (13) and "The Wealth Cure: Putting Money in its Place" by Hill Harper (15).

There are four books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They include "The Reversal" by Michael Connelly (2), "Dark Taste of Rapture" by Gena Showalter (10), "Treachery in Death" by J.D. Robb (12) and "Dead Zero: A Bob Lee Swagger Novel" by Stephen Hunter (15).

There is only one book on this week’s trade paperbacks list that wasn’t on the list last week - "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin, which was No. 15 on this week’s list.

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
