Johnson, weighing 205 pounds, never played football before coming to Troy, but turned in such a wonderful performance in initial practice sessions this year that Wave mentor A.E. Choate quickly placed the Conecuh County youth on the varsity squad.
Johnson has made an impressive record on defensive play this year and should prove a valuable cog in next season’s machine.
He is a freshman and holds down a tackle position on the Wave second team.
