“The Hillcrest Jaguars snapped their three-game losing streak with a 42-6 trouncing of Wilcox Central.
“Bryant Richardson scored on a third and one play from the Jaguars 24 yard line as he raced 76 yards for the night’s first score. Todd Watson added the extra point with 8:16 to go in the first quarter and the Jags were off and running.
“The defense scored the next score when Wilcox was forced to punt, when the snap from center sailed over the punters head and Derek Gessner recovered the loose ball in the end zone for the touchdown. Watson added the PAT and the Jags led 14-0.
“Cecil Gill scored his first touchdown of the night on his next possession of the night when with 2:39 to go in the first period he scored from four yards out.
“Leading rushers for the Jags were Cecil Gill with 152 yards on 16 carries. Bryant Richardson with 112 yards on six carries, and Calvin Richardson with 68 yards on 18 carries all in the second half for Calvin as a host of players got to play in the rout.”

“Catherine Academy handed the Sparta Academy Warriors their first loss of the season last Friday night. Excessive costly mistakes by the Warriors against a still-undefeated Catherine team resulted in a 34-0 loss.

“Shooting actually was a rock: It was first thought that someone had fired a gun and the shot had gone through a window of a school bus at Repton High School, Friday night. However, Sheriff Edwin Booker said that investigation revealed that actually a rock had been thrown or ‘sling-shotted’ through the window.
“A school bus that was transporting players from Frisco City High School to and from the homecoming football game at Repton High was the vehicle involved. One of the Frisco City players suffered injury to an eye from broken glass and was carried to Monroe County Hospital for treatment.”

“Repton High whip Whippets: A big crowd celebrated homecoming Friday at Repton High School and not a single fan would deny that senior fullback Alvin Watkins was the star of the show as the Bulldogs trounced the Frisco City Whippets, 26-7, in the homecoming game.
“Coach Hugh Wilson commended the entire offensive line for their superior blocking. He paid particular praise to both ends, Burl Baggett and Bradford Rudolph, Kevin Givens and Jerry Welch and to center Jerry Nall for doing a pretty good job of containing Frisco’s big nose guard, Finklea.
“Ted Watson was outstanding on defense as he got in on 28 tackles. Also contributing mightily to the stingy Bulldog defense were James ‘Bulldog’ Jordan, Kenny Holbizer and Dan Nettles. Alfonzia Watkins looked good on both offense and defense in the second half, according to Coach Wilson.

“The Aggies suffered their second loss of the season to the fighting Monroeville eleven. The Aggies have won three, lost two and tied one.

“Salter, McIntyre and Ivey stood out for the Aggies. McIntyre and Ivey were in on almost every tackle.
“The Aggies have been working hard all week for their battle Friday night with Repton on Brooks Stadium. The boys from Repton received a 21 to 6 defeat at the hands of the powerful McKenzie Tigers last week and will be scrapping for a win Friday.”

“Joe Delma Hicks, age 23, was accidentally killed while hunting squirrels on Duck Creek in Beat One of this county Fri., Nov. 1. A coroner’s jury empanelled by Dr. E.A. Price, which made the investigation, returned a verdict that he had met his death from shotgun wounds accidentally inflicted when he fell over a log.
“Young Hicks was hunting with some relatives and friends, but the party had separated before the accident occurred. He was not found until several hours later.

“County Teams To Meet Again Friday: Castleberry, Nov. 3 – Lyeffion and Castleberry football teams will meet Friday in the second clash of the season between the two teams. While a regularly scheduled game, the contest Friday will have the effect of a playoff for supremacy as these teams battled to a 6-6 tie at Lyeffion last Friday.
“Both touchdowns came in the first quarter, Lyeffion scoring early when Williams crossed the goal line after skirting right end for 20 yards. Castleberry scored just as the quarter ended when Stapleton fell on one of his team’s own punts which rolled behind the goal line after being touched by a Lyeffion player.
“Neither team seriously threatened to score thereafter. Dickerson, star Lyeffion back, suffered a knee injury early in the game and was forced to retire. The line-ups:
