Seven UFO reports filed in Alabama during month of March

It’s the third week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between March 1 and March 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in seven reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on March 5 in Graysville, which is in northwestern Jefferson County. The witness and his son were watching a movie in the living room of their home when they looked out the window and saw a bright light. Another light appeared to “drop” out of the first light and they both “took off so fast that we couldn’t tell which way they went,” the witness said. These objects were unlike any aircraft or vehicle the witness had ever seen and the lights were brighter than any lights they had seen before.

The second incident occurred around 10:28 p.m. on March 6 in Wetumpka, which is in Elmore County. The witness reported seeing a “pop of light” in the western sky around 9:59 p.m. He went inside for about 15 minutes before returning outside to see it again, pulsating just above the treetops in the eastern sky. He watched it for a minute or so and began capturing footage of it on his video camera. Later, he saw as many as three lights in the sky and caught it all on film for about an hour. Throughout the experience, the witness heard a high-pitched ringing noise.

The third incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on March 7 in Graysville, and the witness reported seeing a cigar-shaped object that traveled directly over him while he was standing on his back porch. The dark-colored object had a solid white light on the bottom of each end and a pulsating red light on the middle of its underside. The object emitted a humming sound, and the witness could only hear it when it was directly overhead. The witness estimated that the object flew between 10 to 15 miles per hour and never changed direction. It was the strangest thing the witness had ever seen, he said.

The fourth incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on March 8 in Helena, which is a suburb of Birmingham. The witness reported seeing a large, black triangle-shaped craft that flew about 100 to 125 feet over his house. While watching TV, the witness first saw a “very bright, white light coming towards his house,” which is on top of a mountain with a view of several miles over the Cahaba Management Area. The craft was inaudible until it was right over the witness. The craft had about 20 lights on its underside, and the rear of the craft looked to be about 150-feet wide. It appeared to be flying about 50 miles per hour.

The fifth incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on March 12 in Birmingham. The witness reported that she was traveling east on Highway 280 with her husband when they looked up and saw a triangle-shaped object hovering in the air. The object had white lights on its exterior, and it was close to the ground for an aircraft. They watched the object for about 10 minutes before it “shot to the right very fast” and disappeared.

The sixth incident occurred between 10:35 a.m. and 10:39 a.m. on March 29 about 10 miles west of Alexander City, which is in Tallapoosa County. The witness in this case reported seeing two, bright white cylindrical objects flying in formation from north to south before making a broad sweep and turning westward. They seemed to rise slightly “until they finally just faded out.” The rod-like objects had no wings or other control surfaces that the witness could see. They were an estimated two miles from the witness and were flying below 5,000 feet, he said.

The seventh incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. on March 30 in Daleville, near Fort Rucker. The witness, age 47, and a friend, age 50, were at a drive-in theater when around 9:10 p.m. the friend leaned forward and said, “What the heck is that?” The witness then saw a disk-shaped object with square windows that looked “like movie film wrapped around a cylinder.” The rest of the craft was dark like the night sky and the craft emitted no noise. The craft flew out of sight, west towards Enterprise. The witness estimated that the craft was flying between 500 and 5,000 feet.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
