If you visited this site on Sunday, you read that Jeff Shaara’s new book, “A Chain of Thunder,” made its debut on the latest Publishers Weekly hardcover fiction best-sellers list. “A Chain of Thunder” was released on May 21 and was No. 7 on Publishers Weekly’s latest best-seller list, which came out last Thursday. “A Chain of Thunder” is a historical novel about the Battle of Vicksburg during the America Civil War.

Shaara, age 61, is the author of 13 books, including:

“Gods and Generals,” “The Last Full Measure,” “A Blaze of Glory” and “A Chain of Thunder” are all about the American Civil War. “Gone for Soldiers” is about the Mexican American War, and “Rise to Rebellion” is set in pre-Revolutionary War America. “The Glorious Cause” is set during the Revolutionary War, and “To the Last Man” is set during World War I.

“The Rising Tide,” “The Steel Wave” and “No Less Than Victory” are all part of a trilogy set during World War II. “The Final Storm” is also a World War II novel and is set in the war’s Pacific theater of operations. No discussion of Jeff Shaara would be complete without mentioning that he is the son of Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Michael Shaara. Michael Shaara, who died from a heart attack in 1988 at the age of 59, was the author of five novels, including:

Michael Shaara’s most famous novel is “The Killer Angels,” which is about the Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1975 and was the basis for the 1993 Civil War movie, “Gettysburg.” Many of you have probably seen this movie, which starred Tom Berenger, Jeff Daniels, Martin Sheen and Sam Elliott. Jeff Shaara’s novel, “Gods and Generals” is actually a prequel to “The Killer Angels,” and his novel, “The Last Full Measure” is a sequel to “The Killer Angels.”
