'Doctor Sleep' remains atop best-sellers list for third straight week

Today is Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Sellers Lists. According to those lists, there was one new book at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"Mad River" by John Sandford replaced "The Sins of the Mother" by Danielle Steel as the No. 1 book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"Doctor Sleep" by Stephen King remained the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list for the third week in a row.

"Killing Jesus" by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the third week straight.

"The Hit" by David Baldacci remained the top book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the fourth straight week.

There were five books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They (and their places on the list) included "Storm Front" by John Sandford (3), "Starry Night" by Debbie Macomber (5), "Doing Hard Time" by Stuart Woods (6), "The Circle" by Dave Eggers (8) and "Doomed" by Chuck Palahniuk (13).

There were five books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "My Story" by Elizabeth Smart (3), "I Am Malala" by Malala Yousafzai (4), "Eat to Live Cookbook" by Joel Fuhrman (8), "Dog Songs" by Mary Oliver (10) and "The Can't Cook Book" by Jessica Seinfeld (11).

There was only one book on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that wasn’t on the list last week - "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, which was No. 12 on the list this week.

There were four books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "Jesus & Religion" by Jefferson Bethke (3), "Dear Life" by Alice Munroe (5), "The Good House" by Ann Leary (9) and "Orphan Train" by Christina Baker Kline (15).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
