How do you see this week's slate of college football games turning out?

Football fans have 11 college bowl games to look forward to between today (Thursday) and Sunday, and more than a few of them will be worth tuning in to watch.

Five games are on tap for today, and the first game of the day is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. on ESPN2 as Auburn takes on Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl in Tampa. I look for Auburn to win that one, but it could be close if the Tigers don’t hem up Badger running back Melvin Gordon.

In the Cotton Bowl, I predict Baylor to edge by Michigan State in Arlington, Texas. That game will kick off at 11:30 a.m. on ESPN. At noon, Minnesota will play Missouri in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. This promises to be another close game, but I expect Missouri to come out ahead in the end.

The Rose Bowl will begin at 4 p.m. in Pasadena, Calif. That national semi-final game, which will be televised on ESPN, will feature national championship contenders Oregon and Florida State. I look for Oregon to win, and there’s a good chance that it might not even be close.

In the Sugar Bowl, Alabama will play Ohio State in the other national semi-final game in New Orleans. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN, and I look for Alabama to mule stomp Ohio State.

Four games are scheduled for tomorrow (Friday), starting with the 11 a.m. Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. That game, which will be shown on ESPN, will feature Pittsburgh and Houston. Look for Pitt to win it in a close one.

At 2:20 p.m., Tennessee will play Iowa in the Taxslayer Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla. That game will be shown on ESPN, and I expect the Vols to get the win in that one.

This year’s Alamo Bowl in San Antonio will feature Kansas State and UCLA. That game will begin at 5:45 p.m. on ESPN, and I predict UCLA will edge out K-State in that game.

In tomorrow’s final game, Oklahoma State will play Washington in the Cactus Bowl in Tempe, Ariz. That game will start at 9:15 p.m. on ESPN, and I figure Washington will win that one by more than a touchdown.

Only one game is scheduled for Saturday, the Birmingham Bowl, featuring Florida and East Carolina. Look for Florida to get by East Carolina in this one. It’ll kick off at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.

As on Saturday, only one game is set for Sunday, the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile, which features Toledo and Arkansas State. Toledo will probably win this one, which begins at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

The NFL playoffs will also kickoff this coming weekend, with two Wildcard games on Saturday and two on Sunday.

On Saturday, I look for Carolina to beat Arizona in the NFC Wild Card Game, which will begin at 3:35 p.m. on ESPN. Later that day, I predict Pittsburgh will beat Baltimore in the AFC Wildcard Game, which is set to start at 7:15 p.m. on NBC.

On Sunday, I expect Indianapolis to edge by Cincinnati in the AFC Wildcard Game, which will get underway at 12:05 p.m. on CBS. Later that day, I look for Dallas to beat Detroit in the NFC Wildcard Game, which will begin at 3:40 p.m. on FOX.
