“Town will honor Frazier Monday: With his very own ‘day’ in Evergreen fast approaching, Wayne Frazier capped his senior season as Auburn University’s center by earning All-American honors. The 230-pound center was selected third string on the Scholastic All American on the basis of his ‘A’ average in the School of Education and his exploits on the gridiron.
“Earlier, Frazier had earned a first string berth on the Southeastern Conference scholastic team.
“Evergreen will honor its number one citizen in the world of sports with Wayne Frazier Day this Monday, Jan. 15. Events of the day include a closing assembly program at Evergreen High School, followed by a parade to the downtown section and a brief program at the bandstand in ‘No-Man’s Land.’ That night at seven o’clock, Wayne will be honored at a banquet at the Recreation Center at which time he will be presented a gift from local fans.
“Tickets to the banquet are now on sale and may be purchased from members of the Quarterback Club or at Northcutt’s and The Courant. Sales end at 5 p.m. Friday.
“The people of Evergreen have gotten together to stage this day for Wayne in recognition not only of his football stardom, but also of his classroom achievements and fine traits of character which have brought wonderful publicity to his hometown.
“Wayne is recognized as the finest footballer to ever wear the green and white of EHS. In his high school days, he was the terror of South Alabama schools as he roamed the field far and wide racking up most of his team’s tackles. He earned just about every ‘ALL’ award given out and climaxed his prep career with a standout performance in the High School All Star game in Tuscaloosa in August 1957.
“Reporting to Auburn that fall, he starred at center with the freshmen before a ‘redshirt’ season. He joined the varsity in 1959 sharing center with All American Jackie Burkett. For the past two seasons he has been Auburn’s starting center and considered by many the finest all round center to ever play at the Plains.
“Numbers of fans from surrounding towns are expected to come here and join in the festivities Monday. The state’s major newspapers will cover the events.”

“Unbeaten Frisco Downs Aggies 75-62: The Evergreen Aggies hit 52 percent of their field goal attempts Thursday afternoon, but they were beaten by the Frisco City Whippets 75-62.
“Bill Sawyer threw in 20 points, 12 of them in the second quarter, to lead the victorious visitors. Joe Kelly had 19 and Kenneth Jones 16 for the Whippets. Mike Ward scored 34 markers, the highest individual total for any Aggie cager in several seasons. Frank Pugh had 14 for the Aggies.”

“The team that met Bay Minette was composed of juniors. They do not lose a member for two years.
“The Bay Minette team was composed of new material but had the same fight of the teams that have represented that school in the past.
“The Aggie lineup was as follows: forwards, Pate, Barlowe; center, Hall; guards, Quarles, Johns; substitutes, Harper for Pate; Freeman for Barlowe; Brown for Johns; Kendall for Quarles.”

“Aggies Girls Defeat Georgiana 33-9: The Aggie Girls defeated the strong Georgiana sextette 33 to 9 last Friday. The game was fast and decisive, the Aggie guards allowing their opponents only two field goals. Captain Althea Kelly played a fine game and scored 22 points for her team. Snowden and Sowell played an excellent game at guard. Cole, a new center for the Aggies, played three quarters and promises to make a good player. Thirteen Evergreen players took part in the game.
