Nine UFO reports filed in Alabama during month of April

It’s the third week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between April 1 and April 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in nine reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sat., April 5, in Vestavia Hills near Birmingham, and witnesses claimed to have seen dozens of lights in the sky. The witness said she spotted the lights after pulling into her mother’s driveway and noted that the lights were “moving fast.” She called her brother, who was eight to 10 miles away, but he reported being unable to see the lights.

The second incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Mon., April 7, near Slocomb in Geneva County, and the witness in this case claimed to see “an object” in the sky when no stars are visible. He took photos of the object and saw objects in the photos that he didn’t notice with his eyes. The witness said that the object eventually disappeared, and he had no idea how far away it was.

The third incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Thurs., April 10, in Gadsden in Etowah County. The witness in this case was driving home from the drugstore with his mother when they noticed an object in the sky that appeared to be following them. The object flew at treetop level and when the witnesses arrived at home the object accelerated suddenly southward.

The fourth incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Thurs., April 17, in Blountsville in Blount County. The witness in this case was taking pictures of his house with a new camera, and when he looked at the pictures later on his computer he noticed an “odd, glowing orb” in several of the photos. The orb was about a foot above the ground and appeared to have moved about 40 feet through heavy undergrowth in about 18 seconds. He didn’t see the strange object at the time he took the pictures.

The fifth incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Mon., April 21, in Birmingham. The witness in this case was looking out of a window and saw a bright, star-like object. The object suddenly moved south and vanished under clear skies.

The sixth incident occurred around 7:25 p.m. on Thurs., April 24, in Dothan. The witness in this case was outside her house with her two daughters attempting to watch the International Space Station fly over the Dothan area. As the space station passed over, they saw another object, perhaps a mile away, “floating” beside it in a straight line for about three minutes.

The seventh incident occurred later that night, around 9 p.m., in Orange Beach in Baldwin County. The witness in this case was sitting on a condo balcony with her husband when they saw a “large, orange, orb-like light” appear to the southwest over the Gulf of Mexico. Several more lights seemed to emerge from the first, and one of these lights lit into a line of five to six evenly spaced, stationary lights. These lights emitted no sound and eventually disappeared.

The eighth incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Sat., April 26, in Haleyville in Winston County. The witness in this case was sitting on a patio with his father when they saw an “amber-colored, round object” moving south-southeast through the skies. The object, which emitted no sound, appeared to move about 30 miles per hour and eventually disappeared behind some trees.

The ninth incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Wed., April 30, in Slocomb. The witness in this case observed a number of “flying objects.” At first, he thought it was stars until he took photos of it, but later realized that it wasn’t stars.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from anyone who have witnessed a UFO, especially in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be
interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously. You can contact me by e-mail at courantsports@earthlink.net or by phone at 578-1492.
