'77 Shadow Street' appears on mass market paperbacks best-sellers list

It’s Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there is only one new book at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"Obama's America: Unmaking the American Dream" by Dinesh D'Souza replaced "Paterno" by Joe Posnanski as the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list.

"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn retained the No. 1 spot on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list for the fifth week in a row.

"Zero Day" by David Baldacci retained the top spot on the mass market paperback best-sellers list for the third week in a row.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James retained its place atop the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the 22nd week in a row.

There are four books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They (along with their place on the list) include "Last to Die" by Tess Gerritsen (2), "The Beautiful Mystery" by Loise Penny (3), "Bone Are Forever" by Kathy Reichs (5) and "Return to Willow Lake" by Susan Wiggs (15).

There are five books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "The Power of the Prophetic Blessing" by John Hagee (2), "Every Love Story Is a Ghost Story" by D.T. Max (10), "Mortality" by Christopher Hitchens (12), "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg (14) and "Quiet: The Power of Introverts" by Susan Cain (15).

There are 10 books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They include "I Left My Heart" by Debbie Macomber (3), "Where Azaleas Bloom" by Sherryl Woods (4), "77 Shadow Street" by Dean R. Koontz (5), "Blue Skies" by Robyn Carr (6), "Stranger in the Moonlight" by Jude Deveraux (7), "The Ugly Duchess" by Eloisa James (9), "Mysterious" by Nora Roberts (10), "Robert Ludlum's The Ares Decision (13), "Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark" by Sidney Sheldon, Tilly Bagshawe (14) and "Alex Cross" by James Patterson (15).

There was only one new book on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that wasn’t on the list last week - "Seven Years to Sin" by Sylvia Day, which appeared in the No. 11 spot on that list.

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
