“The 1991 Hillcrest High School Jaguars are getting ready to defend their 1990 5A, Area 3 championship. The championship chase begins Friday night as the Jaguars play host to the Jackson Aggies at Brooks Memorial Stadium in Evergreen. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Depth at key positions and a winning attitude is keeping head coach H.L. Watson’s expectations high for the year.”

From “Wright Angles” by Artie Wright - “The local high school football season begins this weekend with both Hillcrest High School and Sparta Academy seeing action. The players, coaches, cheerleaders, band members and school officials have been hard at work to prepare for the season.
“Football season is like no other sporting season. More emotion is spent during a high school football game than can be measured.
“Just remember, the players you see out on the field are just children. The activities you will be watching will just be games. The sun will rise the next day.
“Best of luck to both schools. Here is wishing each of you a safe and successful season.”
