'Argo' book appears on best-sellers list for first time this week

Today is Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Sellers Lists. According to the lists, there is only one new book at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.


"The Innocent" by David Baldacci replaced "American Sniper" by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice as the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"Alex Cross, Run" by James Patterson remained the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list for the second week in a row.

"Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World" by Phil McGraw remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the third straight week.

"Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander remained the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the 14th week in a row.

There were four books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on that list lat week. They (and their places on the list) included "Calculated in Death" by J.D. Robb (2), "The Storyteller" by Jodi Picoult (3), "A Story of God and All of Us" by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (6) and "Red Velvet Cupcake Murder" by Joanne Fluke (11).

There were three books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They (and their places on the list) included "Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us" by Michael Moss (5), "The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?" by Rick Warren (12) and "The Blood Sugar Solution: The UntraHealthy Program for Losing Weight, Preventing Disease, and Feeling Great Now..." by Mark Hyman (13).

There were 11 books on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "The Innocent" by David Baldacci (1), "You Don't Want To Know" by Lisa Jackson (2), "Return to Willow Lake" by Susan Wiggs (4), "Immortal Ever After: An Argeneau Novel" by Lynsay Sands (5), "Heart of Texas, Vol. 1" by Debbie Macomber (6), "Defending Jacob: A Novel" by William Landay (7), "Perfect Timing: A Harrigan Family Novel" by Catherine Anderson (8), “The Third Gate" by Lincoln Child (10), "Whispering Rock" by Robyn Carr (12), "Playing for Keeps: Opposites Attraqct\Partners" '' by Nora Roberts (13) and "Beauty Awakened" by Gena Showalter (14).

There were four books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "11th Hour" by Jakmes Patterson and Maxine Paetro (2), "America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made This Nation Great" by Ben Carson M.D. and Candy Carson (3), "Three Sisters" by Susan Mallery (10) and "Argo" by Antonio Mendez (14).
