Four UFO reports filed in Alabama during July

It’s the third week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the past month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between July 1 and July 31 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in four reports from within our state during that time.

The first incident occurred on Wed., July 4, around 9:30 p.m. as the witness stood on an apartment balcony in Birmingham awaiting a fireworks show. The witness reported seeing a bright, orange, odd-shaped, glowing light that hovered in the sky. The light was moving, but not much, the witness said.

The witness continued to watch this strange light, but at one point glanced away. When he looked back, the light was gone, almost as if it “had vanished into thin air.” “I have no idea what it was, but have definitely seen nothing like it,” the witness said.

The second incident occurred almost two hours later, around 11:23 p.m. on July 4. The witness in this case reported seeing seven glowing ovals that flew across U.S. Highway 280, which runs from downtown Birmingham to the Georgia state line. The witness said he was smoking alone outside when he saw a “glowing, red-orange oval-shaped thing” fly slowly from right to left over the treetops.

Two more slow flying objects followed the first, and the witness yelled for his parents to come outside. The parents arrived in time to see a fourth object fly by, and that object was followed by three more. The witness, who said he “was terrified,” noted that the last two flying objects “wavered more than the others.”

The witnesses eventually lost sight of the objects when they flew behind the trees behind their house. The witness said he tried to film the objects, but they were “nearly impossible to make out” on the footage.

The third incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Mon., July 16. The witness reported that she had just left the Dollar General Store in Sipsey and was driving towards Mike’s Gas Station when she saw an unusual object in the sky. “It was black,” she said.

“It looked like a ‘V’ but with a flat bottom. The arms or whatever you call them were sticking out, pointing straight up but in a slight angle, not like a plane’s that are straight out.”

The fourth incident occurred on the morning of Sat., July 28. The witness provided few details about the incident other than to say that he saw a UFO from his backyard. His report also included seven photos of the sky behind his house. I looked at them and honestly couldn’t spot anything unusual in the sky or otherwise.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’d be willing to accept your report on an anonymous basis if you’d be more comfortable with that arrangement.
