Bizarre UFO report filed on April 11 by witness in Flomaton

It’s the third week of the month, so this week I’m giving you an update on UFO reports in Alabama from the previous month, courtesy of the Mutual UFO Network.

A search for UFO reports in Alabama between April 1 and April 30 on MUFON’s website, www.mufon.com, resulted in nine reports from within our state during that time, including an unusual incident in Flomaton in nearby Escambia County.

The incident in Flomaton occurred around midnight on Thurs., April 11. The witness in that case said he wrecked his 2005 F-150 pickup truck near a friend’s house, where he’d been staying for a few days after a surgical procedure. After the accident, he walked back to the house for help, but he and his female friend couldn’t find the truck for some reason when they returned to look for it.

The girl left, but the man continued to look for his truck in the edge of the woods for about 45 minutes. Suddenly, he heard a “very loud buzzing, humming sound” and turned around to see a large light that was so bright he couldn’t look at it. He watched it float from side to side, pulsate and blink, he said.

The man said he was terrified by the light, began screaming for help and ran into a bush to hide. After about five to seven minutes, the light moved towards the man, and he passed out. He woke up 12 to 14 hours later in the daylight hours with his shoes, shorts, underwear and cellphone missing.

He was in a different place altogether than from where he passed out, and it had also rained in the meantime, leaving him wet and cold. He screamed for help, but he was so deep in the woods that no one heard him. He eventually began walking and around the time the sun began to set on Fri., April 12, he found a dirt path.

He began to follow the path and around midnight he came upon a locked iron gate. He went under it after seeing a few cars go by. He eventually made his way to a house, where a lady answered the door and called the police after giving him a bathrobe to wear. The police picked him up, and he learned that his parents had reported him missing.

He was taken to the emergency room at the hospital in Jay, Fla., where he was given fluids for dehydration and antibiotics for cuts and abrasions. The witness said that he tested positive for “many hard drugs” but didn’t remember taking any willingly. He was also administered a rape kit test, the results came back negative, he said.

Since the incident, the man’s missing clothes and his wrecked pick-up have not been found.

The first reported incident of April occurred on Mon., April 1, around 12:30 p.m. near Coalburg in Jefferson County. The witness in that case said that she and her daughter were driving toward the on-ramp to Interstate Highway 22 when they saw a cigar-shaped object in the sky. It was a shiny, silver color and reflected the sun almost as if it were a mirror, she said. It hovered in place for about 30 seconds before it disappeared.

The second incident occurred on Sat., April 6, around 8:30 p.m. in Florence in Lauderdale County. The witness in that case said he was outside stargazing when he saw a “very bright, star-like orb.” The sky was clear, and the object traveled silently north at an estimated 20 miles per hour, he said. The man went inside to get his wife, and they both arrived back outside in time to see the object fly over their house. It was not an airplane, the witness said, noting that he watched it through a pair of binoculars. The object flew much lower than the typical airplane, he said.

The third incident also occurred on April 6 about 10 minutes later, at 8:40 p.m., in Birmingham. The witness in that case watched from a room at the InTown Suites as an unusual light moved across the southwestern sky. The object was “very shiny like a star” and moved toward Homewood. The witness watched it through the trees, and it continued moving slowly east until it disappeared. The witness described it as “more or less a large dot of brightness slowly crossing the sky.”

The next incident occurred on Sat., April 13, around 9:30 p.m. in Madison. The witness in that case said he’d let his dog out around that time and was looking up at the sky when he saw a “flash of a white shooting star.” The object shot upward before quickly descending and making a quick right turn, he said. It then disappeared over the witness’ roof and when he ran around to the front yard to see it, it was gone, he said.

The next incident occurred around midnight on Fri., April 19. The witness did not give his exact location other than to say that it occurred somewhere in Alabama. The witness and his wife were traveling down the interstate when they saw 30 to 40 objects in a “swarm-like formation” about 2,500 feet in the air. The man pulled over, and the couple tried to photograph the objects with their phones. The objects appeared to move across the sky and then “flicker out” one at a time when they reached a certain point in the sky. In one of the photos, the objects appeared to be shaped like a boomerang.

The next incident occurred at 8:55 p.m. on Tues., April 23, in Florence. In that case, three witnesses saw a bright “star-like orb” that vanished while flying at low altitude. They saw the orb for about a minute. The witness, who saw it along with his wife and daughter, said the orb was bright while in flight but disappeared like someone turned off a light switch.

The next incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. on Thurs., April 25, in Florence. In this case, a man and woman reported seeing a “star-like orb” in the western sky, about 30 feet or so above the treetops. The orbs were “very, very bright and moving very, very slow.” The orb moved silently east at about 10 miles per hour. At its closest, it seemed to be about 100 to 150 feet from the witnesses. When it passed directly overhead, it slowed down so much that for a few seconds it seemed to hover in place as if “checking us out.” It eventually flew off to the east, the witness said.

The final incident of the month occurred around 10:43 p.m. on Fri., April 26, in Foley, near Barin Naval Airfield. In this case, three people inside of a house near an open window saw a flash of bright, white light that “light up the entire inside of house as well as the outside.” The flash lasted less than a second and wasn’t accompanied by any audible “booms” or any other sounds.

Before closing out this week, I just want to put it out there again that I would be very interested to hear from any readers of The Courant who have witnessed a UFO in Conecuh County. I think a lot of other people would be interested in hearing your story too, and I’m willing to accept your report anonymously.
