Final 'Wheel of Time' novel takes top spot on best-sellers list this week

Today is Sunday, so that means that it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s Publishers Weekly Best-Seller List. According to the list, there are two new books at the top of the four major best-sellers lists this week.

"A Memory of Light" by Robert Jordan replaced "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn as the No. 1 book on the hardcover fiction best-sellers list.

"Odd Interlude" by Dean Koontz replaced "Big Sky River" by Linda Lael Miller as the top book on the mass market paperback best-sellers list.

"Shred: The Revolutionary Diet: 6 Weeks 4 Inches 2 Sizes" by Ian K. Smith remained the top book on the hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list for the second straight week.

"Proof of Heaven" by Eben Alexander remained the No. 1 book on the trade paperbacks best-sellers list for the seventh week in a row.

There were seven books on this week’s hardcover fiction best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They (and their places on the list) included "A Memory of Light" by Robert Jordan (1), "The Husband List" by Janet Evanovich (3), "Collateral Damage" by Stuart Woods (4), "Kinsey and Me: Stories" by Sue Grafton (5), "Tenth of December: Stories" by George Saunders (6), "The Blood Gospel" by James Rollins (8) and "Dream Eyes" by Jayne Ann Krentz (13).

There were six books on this week’s hardcover nonfiction best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "The Plan" by Lyn-Genet Recitas (3), "Ninja Innovation" by Gary Shapiro (4), "My Share of the Task" by Stanley McChrystal (5), "The End of Diabetes" by Joel Fuhrman (13), "Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook" by Weight Watchers (14) and "Fat Chance" by Robert Lustig (15).

There was only one book on this week’s mass market paperbacks best-sellers list that wasn’t on the list last week - "Kill Alex Cross" by James Patterson, which was No. 15 on this week’s list.

There were two books on this week’s trade paperbacks best-sellers list that weren’t on the list last week. They included "Home Front" by Kristin Hannah (5) and "Do More, Spend Less" by Brad Wilson (12).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Sunday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list.
