'Walking Dead Compendium, Vol. 1' takes top spot on best-sellers list this week

Today is Tuesday, so that means it’s time for my weekly breakdown of this week’s New York Times lists of best-selling graphic novels. According to those lists, there is one new book at the top of the two major graphic novel lists this week.

“Batman, Vol. 3” by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo remained the No. 1 book on the Hardcover Graphic Books best-sellers list.

“The Walking Dead Compendium, Vol. 1” by Robert Kirkman and others replaced “Fables, Vol. 19” by Bill Willingham, Mark Buckingham and others as the top book on the Paperback Graphic Books best-sellers list.

There were three books on this week’s Hardcover Graphic Books best-sellers list that weren’t on that list last week. They (and their place on the list) included “Batman Incorporated, Vol. 2” by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham (2), “The Walking Dead, Book 1” by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard (4) and “Detective Comics, Vol. 3” by John Layman, Jason Fabok and Andy Clarke (5).

There were three books on this week’s Paperback Graphic Books best-sellers list that wasn’t on that list last week. They included “Blue is the Warmest Color” by Julie Maroh (6), “Drama” by Raina Telgemeier (9) and “March: Book One” by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin (10).

As a reminder, I’m posting these lists each Tuesday because they, as a whole, represent a great, contemporary recommended reading list. These lists are initially released each week on Sunday, and if you’re interested in reading them then, visit The New York Times’ Web site at www.nytimes.com.
